The Mystery of The Bulgarian Voices

Bulgaria has a wonderful voice.
Might as well use it.
We joined our efforts with The Institute for Public Environment Development (IPED) for a campaign to increase voting turnout. We asked the legendary choir The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices to display the power of voices (votes) when we choose to use them.

With the combination of an audio experiment and a stage metaphor we show what happens when we do not exercise our right to vote.
We expressed the percentages of voter turnout in the last elections for the National Assembly and the European Parliament, asking the corresponding number of female singers to withhold their voices. To be silent while the others chime in on a catchy song representing an area - in our case - a multi-member constituency.
The project shows that there is only one mystery why on election day we choose to remain silent.
Low voter turnout is one of the dangerous diseases of civil society in a democratic, legal and social state.

We designed a collection of T-shirts and stickers for IPED’s team of volunteers who oversee the elections process in cities all over Bulgaria.
